Nice list, the baseball taco place is actually Taco’s Chachuril.
Casa O’s is no longer open.

  2. Avatar April 8th, 2010 at 12:18 pm kath Says:

    Thanks Dave-I’ll make a note of Taco’s Chachuril. I thought that Casa O’s was a temporary closure-untrue?

I see that La Negrita is missing. We found this little gem on our trip in May 2010. Manuel is the owner and a terrific host. It’s just a little hole in the wall on Allende, half a block from Rueda Medina. The food was FANTASTIC and cheap! He sells whole fried fish and you pay by the kilo. Maybe the best fried fish I’ve ever had. He also does a great breakfast. Nothing fancy about this place but oh so good. Love your blog :)

  15. Avatar June 4th, 2010 at 9:53 pm kingfish78734 Says:

Oops, sorry, you do have it listed.

  16. Avatar June 6th, 2010 at 4:49 am kath Says:

  19. Avatar July 7th, 2010 at 12:46 pm alaskadenise Says:

Someday when you have time, maybe add vegetarian as a section or category, as this would help those traveling vegetarians looking for good food.
I love recommending your list on travel forums – it is excellent.
    Mucho gracias! D :)

  20. Avatar July 7th, 2010 at 1:50 pm kath Says:

Thanks Denise for the recommendations. I should be doing more myself but seem to be too busy with other “work”. Could you help me with vegetarian suggestions that you are aware of on Isla? We’re looking at early March for next visit-you?

  21. Avatar August 26th, 2010 at 12:51 pm Harley246 Says:

I certainly enjoy your blog. We’ve been to Isla several times, and you’ve listed places we weren’t aware of. One I think you should include on your list is Alexa & Giovany’s at the market. It is the first one from the street. We breakfast there often during our stay, and I feel like I’m sitting in her kitchen for a real Mexican breakfast. Also, her swiss enchilada is so very yummy.

  22. Avatar September 12th, 2010 at 7:51 am Eric Says:

Per islamjures.info website baseball tacos now closed…

  23. Avatar September 12th, 2010 at 4:05 pm kath Says:

Thanks Eric. I did see that on Friday but did not have a chance to make the revision to the list over the weekend.

  24. Avatar January 22nd, 2011 at 2:20 pm sandi Says:

  25. Avatar January 25th, 2011 at 12:47 pm Harley246 Says:

When you get a chance, you’ll want to add Barlito which opened recently on Hidalgo. We’re anxious to try it when we are there a month from today. Great list you’ve put together. I share it with friends who are Isla newbies.

  26. Avatar January 25th, 2011 at 1:25 pm kath Says:

Harley-thanks for your revision. We arrive the same day as you! I’ll look for someone as white as me with as big a silly grin as me.

  27. Avatar March 3rd, 2011 at 1:13 pm Marla Says:

Thanks for adding us! Chuuk Kay really appreciates your input. We look forward to you visiting again soon!

    Drat-thanks Laur.

  29. Avatar June 1st, 2011 at 8:12 pm Sherri Shooks Says:

I see you only have one star by Amigo’s and I know one dish does not make a restaurant but I have to at least suggest you try their coconut shrimp if you haven’t had it before. They have the best coconut shrimp with spicy mango sauce I’ve ever eaten!

  30. Avatar June 6th, 2011 at 8:27 am kath Says:

I will definitely try Amigoes’ Coconut Shrimp. If you read my legend one star just means that I have had not had a chance to personallt sample. So many amazing Isla restaurants…so little time.

  31. Avatar January 10th, 2012 at 12:52 pm travelgirl Says:

WOW – such a work of love! Thanks so much. Planning a trip to Isla in the Spring. This is going to help tremendously.

  32. Avatar January 10th, 2012 at 1:11 pm Kathryne Says:

You are right Travel Girl-I adore Isla but especially the food and the lovely folks who prepare it.

  33. Avatar January 16th, 2012 at 11:07 am Holly Says:

Just copied and pasted all of your restaurants— I think we’ll stick with just the 3 stars as there are so many to choose from. Now my mouth is watering— we are going for the first time in April.
