Isla Mujeres 2026 Trip Report including Villa Makax and Casa Diego

June9

A lovely change of scene. I tried to get Peggy to pose for a sad face pic at the ferry. but she wasn’t having it. She was glad to be going home. I heard so many planes fly north that day as Jan & Bruce, Gloria & Hugh & others flew home. After getting organised at my “home”, I cabbed it to Sac Bajo for a special treat of a night at Villa Makax! Wow, was it quiet there and so beautiful. More about my stay here: https://foodmusings.ca/isla-mujeres/villa-makax-isla-mujeres-accommodations-feature-2026/ . I enjoyed my leftovers of charcuterie from The Reef. There weren’t a whole lot of food options on the peninsula. I so wanted to catch a Sac Bajo sunset, but it was not to be.

I enjoyed the duration of my treat at Villa Makax taking the rest I didn’t know I needed. The cab ride home was a complete tour of the island as there were a number of detours for construction. I had the biggest surprise at Casa Diego – a beautiful setting and great food. Here’s the link: https://foodmusings.ca/uncategorized/casa-diego-isla-mujeres-restaurant-feature-2026/

Life is good and God is good.
