I strolled to Jax to meet up with old Luna D’Miel friends Peggy and Kelly as well as LD’M neighbours Hew & Gloria. The sunset that evening was absolutely incredible from the second floor of Jax.

Soon it got dusk, a grapy dusk, a purple dusk over tangerine groves and long melon fields; the sun the color of pressed grapes, slashed with burgundy red, the fields the color of love and Spanish mysteries.”

Another amazing sunset as I walked to meet Brother #3 and my SIL.

Mujeres 2019 Trip Report-Day 13

July18

day13-1 day13-2 day13-5 day13-6

Since my natural alarm clock (D) had to return home I had to set my phone to be up for sunrise.

dayy13-3

day13-7

I love watching Centro come to life.

day13-9

The predicted norte had arrived so I worked on the Isla Mujeres’ Food Page all day. I did have a wonderful lunch break of leftovers.

day13-8

At dinner time, Sister #3 and I walked Hidalgo. I love all the bright colours that the locals embrace.

laesquina8

We were treated to a fabulous dinner at La Esquina (follow link).

It was a quick walk home and then end of another perfect day.

Isla Mujeres 2019 Trip Report-Day 12

My first night in a new bed, I had an awful sleep, as I often do in a new place. As a result I didn’t make sunrise.

day13-11

I did venture to the ferry to see V & D off. It was a hot and muggy day with a reported norte on the way.

day12-1

I slid open the 2 walls of windows and used the time to get some work done.

chatitia3

Sister #3 and I scouted out a new spot in Colonias for us for lunch: La Chatita where the local, home-cooked for was exceptional. Update: I read just today on the Isla Mujeres’ Food page that they were having to close.

day12-2

day12-3

day12-4

As we walked for a bit to hail a cab, we were lured into Café Jacquar where we were treated to a margaraita (we asked to share it as we were so full from lunch). It was one mighty fine margarita!

day12-5 day12-6 day12-7

Mid-afternon, I walked over to Media Luna, not to swim but to stand in the water and enjoy the refreshing splashes.

xtonolo1

That evening we also enjoyed dinner at Xontolo. The cocktails were inventive and sublime and the culinary artistry of some Mexican classics blew us away.

After a full day of delicious food and libations, I was glad that it wasn’t far to walk home and crash early (after I stopped at Nash’s to watch last period of the Jets hockey game, of course).

Isla Mujeres 2019 Trip Report-Day 11

July15

day11-1 day11-2 day11-3 day11-4 day11-5 day11-6 day11-7

I didn’t have to walk anywhere to catch the sunrise this am. I just laid low, savouring my last moments at Luna d’Miel. It was a very, very hot that day. I perhaps spent a ½ hour in the sun. I said my good-byes to our friends/neighbours Huw and Gloria and called a cab to get me to my next stay-at Xbulu Ha in Centro.

day11-8 day11-9

After I moved and got settled, I walked over to spend some time with my SIL and her sister who were staying at Media Luna Hotel. I enjoyed a visit, drinks and snacks around their pool. Since it was their last day on the island, we agreed to meet later that evening for a good-bye dinner.

day11-10

Canadian friends Vince and Doris often host a special evening at the gorgeous Caribbean Casa where they stay each year.

day11-11

day11-12

This year the gathering was a bit smaller than usual, celebrating happy hour with some munchies, a group photo

day11-13 day11-14 day11-15 day11-16

and a gorgeous sunset. The brevity of the evening worked out perfectly for our gang as we were meeting family (see above) along with my daughter-in-law’s parents at Picus for a departure dinner for them with our toes in the sand.

I was not at all hungry because of our Happy Hour treats so I ordered Garlic fish so that I could feast on leftovers for a couple of days.
