The Media Chef-Media Planning & Buying

Paired with her passion for food, Kathryne also has a passion for media and the advertising industry. With over 20 years experience as a media consultant and media buyer based in Winnipeg, she has managed many local and national media strategies. Kathryne’s career (and you might even say her passion for food)  started as Regional Marketing Director for The Keg Steakhouse and Bar where she continues to plan and buy their media to this day.

While she’s been working solo as The Media Chef since the new year of 2010, Kathryne’s prior experience was working as a media planner, buyer and strategist for Picante Advertising and previous to that with Traffic Adertising. She still manages the media plans for the clients of both boutique agencies.  In the early nineties, Kathryne was Media Supervisor for Kaizen media of Palmer Jarvis Advertising.

During her tenure with these agencies her clients included: Investors Group,  Sun-Rype Juices,  Credit Unions of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Dentists.  On a provincial basis she has managed media for the Manitoba Milk producers,  Credit Unions of Manitoba,  Manitoba Lotteries,  Manitoba Hydro,  Travel Manitoba,  Manitoba Dental Association,  Manitoba Chiropractors Association,  Manitoba Association of Massage Therapists,  St. Vital Shopping Centre,  Grant Park Shopping Centre,  Kildonan Place as well as a number of local credit unions.  Her not for profit work includes Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, Cancer Care Society and Manitoba Special Olympics.

Her most recent project was media planning for the highly successful CN Canadian Women’s Open-a LPGA event which raised $800,000 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation where she is a weekly volunteer baby-hugger.

Kathryne now shares her media knowledge by teaching “Media for Small Business” to a number of community organizations as well as Advertising Fundamentals with the Professional Studies Division of the University of Winnipeg.

Dish Magazine features Kathryne as their blogging columnist connecting with other Winnipeg foodies in cyber-space.  Her love of food and media goes on.
