This was last sunrise from the Malecon.

I tried to get caught up on my writing, but I had to finish packing and check out.

Donna helped me move because I had too many things to carry myself. She also waited with me to check in.

I LOVED our new digs.

The best part were the views from our bedroom window and the balcony.

After unpacking, I had enough time to let me new surroundings soak in with a glass of wine.

I kept in touch with my husband Doug as he made his way to the island. When I saw the shadows lengthening I knew that his arrival was that much closer. I tried to hail a cab to meet his ferry. At least a dozen cabs whizzed past me, until one driver (I think it was the one that delivered me with all my luggage) took pity on me and let me climb in with 4 other occupants. The men in the back seat with me were not petite and I know that they were inconvenienced by the cabbie’s kindness. We were not quite into Centro when traffic was at a standstill. The Carnevale crowds were crazy! So I paid for the lift and said adios to my cab mates and walked the rest of the way.

Carnevale was in full swing at a stage set up right in front of the ferry terminal. It was a bit of a schmalz getting someone to drive us and D’s luggage mid island, but we finally arrived at our little piece of paradise for the rest of my stay.

Once the sun set, we moved to our east facing balcony, with D sharing greetings from home and me filling him in on the details of the past two weeks. Ahhh. Another fresh start.
